Did you Know about this?

I received this email from a friend today. And, being the doubting Thomas that I am, went immediately to my roll of Reynolds wrap. Darned if that little tab isn't there ... on both ends yet!!

I've been using aluminum foil for more years than I care to remember. Great stuff, but sometimes it can be a pain. You know, like when you are in the middle of doing something and you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box. Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over. The darn roll always comes out at the wrong time.

Well, I would like to share this with you. Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, "Press here to lock end". Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place. How long has this little locking tab been there? I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too. I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too! I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out when I was trying to cover something up.

I'm sharing this with my friends that did not know this. I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

Note from Lucy: It's true, I went and looked.....

Have a great week everyone!

I just took it for granted that everyone knew that. It doesn't matter though, just think of all the things you know that I don't! That far out weighs foil tabs. :)

I am going to look so smart when I show this trick to The Missus. Of course, she'll ask where I got it from. Smart woman.

Well, I knew about the tabs but rarely use them because it's just as frustrating to me when the roll hangs on the tabs as it is when the roll jumps out of the box.

Hope you're having a good week, Lucy.

Love and hugs,

Diane

No way! I have never seen these tabs before. Thanks for pointing that out. It is so funny to me that we bypass things all the time that could make life easier, and its just a matter of reading and getting familiar with the item. Thanks for the tip. Loved it.

Hi, I was blog-hopping today and happened upon yours. I am going to be 63 this year and I have used this stuff forever and never noticed this feature. I checked my Kroger saran wrap and all the others and they all have it! I guess you are never too old to learn something new. Thanks for the info! You have a great blog.

You can count me as one your moron friends who did not know this tab existed. I have had the foil jump out of the box for years, and now I know the secret to stop that from happening.
You're the best!
Thanks, Lucy.

Sure enough, Lucy, The Missus had no idea. I think she'll be reading your blog from now on.

Jess, I am sure your mom taught you that little trick.

Oh Great One - You must be more observent than I was...I never even saw it.

Fred - The Missus will wonder why you didn't show her sooner...lol

rachel - I know what you mean..

Diane - somehow I knew you would know and you showed Jessica where to look.

jan - I wonder how we can be so blind sometimes.

junerose2005 - Yes, it was a surprise to me too.

judy - thanks for stopping by. It is funny how something so simple can surprise you...

jamie dawn - I guess we "old dogs" can learn new tricks.... I am just going to have to look at things a little closer.

Fred - I would feel honored for the Missus to read my blog...Thanks for showing her that simple tab on the end of the box....

Manufacturers are more thoughtful than we give them credit for: there is also a pair of perforated tabs under tissue paper boxes so that when the supplies run low, you are able to prop the remaining paper up so that you are able to carry on fishing out tissues. :)

Hey Lucy, nice one! Just this weekend someone showed Mrs. Jim about this. I pretended to have already known (and maybe I did, but just forgot).

Charles is in Italy this week, maybe I can get there earlier in time to help you set up things. I didn't know that you weren't taking this class.

Yesterday evening I asked my oldest grandson to tear off the Saran Wrap for me because I couldnt' contend with the roll falling out of the box one more time. Now I won't have that problem again. I checked the boxes and sure enough the foil has the tabs and the plastic wrap has the tabs. The wax paper does not but I never have as much problem with the wax paper. Lucy, Lucy, what would we do without you? Thanks again.

Dear Lucy ~~ Great idea. I always take my wraps out of the boxes and put them on my dispenser, Will check out the next box I buy. Clever girl. I have only just discovered those
great little cutters for plastic wrap. Thank you for your visit and I am glad you liked the story of Meredith and her dog and so lovely the letter from God and the nice book. Take care, my friend,
Love, Merle.

Well, I never knew that and I've never eveb heard about it...ever! And I've had the same thing happen with both Aluminum Fpil and Sran Wrap....(Neither of which I use very much at all anymore.....)
Well, you learn something new every day, they say....I sure did today!

Update: Both my foil and my plastic wrap have now been secured via the push-in flaps at the ends of the boxes.
I showed my hubby and daughter, and they both had never heard of those flaps either.
At least my daughter won't go as many years and you and I did without knowing this great little secret!
