Just the other day I posted on dejunking the house of all that "stuff" that magically fills up every nook and craney. Look what was in the Sunday Funnies...It's me! Posted by Picasa

I saw this cartoon and thought of your post as well. How timely.

Oh, that is just heartbreaking. The desire to declutter and the wanting to keep our kids' stuff forever :)

I related to that cartoon, too. In fact, the things I "evacuate" when a hurricane threatens, in addition to the family pictures, are the mis-spelled letters, lopsided clay knick-knacks, and assorted things made of toilet paper holders, paper clips and paper bags. I will always have enough room for those things made with so much childish earnestness, and given with such pure love. That is not clutter to me. I'm betting big money that it isn't clutter to you, either.

How cute. I save all the little "I love you Dad" drawings and cards the kids give me; I love to look through them every so often.

It goes by too quick.

when I was visiting my mom a month ago we were going through some old photos, and there - deep in the chest we found a big brown envelope. when we opened it we had a great time looking through it - we found old drawings and stuff that my sister and I made years and years ago. The cool part was that my mom hadn't seen them before either - it was stuff we had given to her mother. Someone must have given her the envelope when they were tidying up the house of my grandparents after my grandmother died..

It's tough, letting go and getting rid of things that hold such sentimental value. Amazing how the little things in life can sometimes make such an impression on us. I kept my son's baby's clothes in his closet for the longest time...just too hard to acknowledge he's five already.

I would do the same thing if my son (in 10 years) wanted to get rid of his stuff too! I would have to go through it first! :-)

This cartoon goes right with my comment on your last blog. I even wrote a poem about it on my own blog, but it was some time back.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving yourself, and your family.

That's cute. I think I'm going to dejunk too. It always feels great when it's done. I got rid of two green garbage bags from my boys bedroom, a few weeks ago, and to my surprise it's been easier for them to keep clean. The less the merrier.
